Wine and Beers of the World

August 21, 2010

My dad’s birthday is on Monday, and since we are both big wine and beer fans, I treated him and my mother to a tasting of over 200 wines and a dozen or so beers!  First, let’s discuss what I ate this morning though……

Is this a bowl of oatmeal?  Nope!

What is in the bowl?

  • 1/8c. millet
  • 3/4 c. H2O
  • 1 packet Starbuck VIA
  • 1 TBS oats (okay so it is kinda oatmeal)
  • 1  tsp Chia Seeds
  • 1/2 cup almond milk
  • 1/2 banana

Topped with

  • cinnamon
  • more chia seeds
  • blueberries
  • walnuts
  • coconut butter

Enjoyed with coffee from Mexico!  A break from my usual Indonesian coffees.

As much as this breakfast held me over, I knew I was going to need to much on something before I headed off to the tasting.  I went to make a wrap, and discovered that there were 1.5 left—I took the .5!

Inside I put hummus, avocado, carrots and….almond butter?  Yes I did!  Why not?

I enjoyed it with more carrots, hummus, and almond butter!

Now for the good stuff!

The tasting was held in Clinton, New Jersey which happens to be a place my dad used to take me for my birthday as a kid.  Now I am taking him!

Read all about the  Red Mill Museum!

(My apologies for my lack of tasting notes—I have a bunch—I think my dad has them somewhere now…will update if I find them)

Wow, looks like you had a great time at the wine tasting, and the food looked amazing too…however, I think the “good stuff” was really that wrap with hummus, avocado, carrots, and almond butter. ;)

Glad you had a good time, and I hope you have a wonderful week!
